You do not come here for understatement. Set in a former brothel in Cais do Sodré, Pensão Amor embraces the district’s bohemian, erotic, and slightly unruly past with red interiors, live events, and a sense that the night could tilt in several directions at once. It is theatrical, yes, but not empty. The room has enough history and personality to make the excess feel earned.
