Tiny bars often trade too heavily on their size. Ulysses gets away with it because the intimacy actually shapes the experience. Hidden in Alfama and usually run by founder Manuel Barreira himself, it works like a spirit soaked little library where bespoke cocktails and conversation matter as much as the room itself. What stays with people is not that it is small, but how much character it fits into such a small space.
